Where does your contribution to Music Boosters go?

Parents: You will be asked for two main contributions for each group your student performs with.
1) Music Booster Membership - via the form in the Registration Packet each August (or on the website tab for your ensemble), with a check made out to "PVPHS Music Boosters - <insert "orchestra, marching band, choir, or jazz" here>." Turn in at registration or to your group's president via the black Music Booster mailbox in the band room.

From this, your group will pay a share to the "umbrella" Music Booster, which covers liability insurance, maintenance of our 501c3 non-profit status, filing of taxes, and piano tuning for all 4 music divisions. The remainder will cover operating expenses for your group, like registration for festivals, purchase of music, maintenance of shared instruments, any required uniforms, additional coaches, etc.
2) Participation Donation - via the forms from the "Athletic/Activity Clearance Packets" with a check made out to  "PVPHS - <insert "orchestra, marching band, choir, or jazz" here>." Turn in to Student Store.

From this, the school will order transportation to your group's events, such as buses for football games, festivals, or other performances.

3) There may be additional fees for special trips or events. Examples include
  • jazz band trip to festivals
  • band trip to Knotts Berry Farm or Disneyland
It is important to recognize that PVPUSD, PEF, and PVPHS support only teachers' salaries, our practice rooms, and keeping the lights on in these rooms. We have no budget for sheet music, accompanists, specialists, instrument maintenance, or instrument replacement. We support numerous school events, all football games, and PEF Main Event, but we have no allotted funds for transportation, which involves moving large instruments in addition to musicians. While your contributions are optional donations, we truly could not function without everyone doing what they can to support the group. This includes your volunteering to serve on committees, donating to jazz bake sales, or even driving the big Uhaul to move timpani. We appreciate all your help!
Community Supporters: As mentioned above, we do not have funding for basics such as music to play or replacement of 50 year old instruments. If you love arts in our community, please consider being a Music Booster member or even making a small contribution to our cause. We even accept donations of old musical equipment collecting dust in your closet !!
