The Music Boosters Community Service Program encourages students to give back to the community. We have many opportunities within the Music Department for students share their love and knowledge of music.
For PVPHS Music Booster Members, Music Boosters is a certifying organization for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Every student interested in earning this award will need to obtain hours from January to December of any given year.
Below is some information on the Presidential Service Award and the hours that you need for each level.
The Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) recognizes "the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourage more people to serve...Recognizing and honoring volunteers sets a standard for service, encourages a sustained commitment to civic participation, and inspires others to make service a central part of their lives..." (www.presidentialserviceaward.gov)
Music Boosters will be using the 12 month tracking period which will start in January and run through December. All students who accomplish the hour goals established by the Presidential Service Award will be honored at the annual Music Booster Music Banquet in May.
The Presidential Service Award has three different levels:
Bronze Level 100 to 174 volunteer hours Silver Level 175 to 249 volunteer hours Gold Level 250 hours and above
Note: The hours for Teens age 11 to 15 are: Bronze Level 50 to 74 volunteer hours Silver Level 75 to 99 volunteer hours Gold Level 100 hours and above
If the Music Booster Member student achieves one of the levels above, they will be presented with a lapel pin (like the one pictured here), a letter from the President of the United States, and a certificate which lists the number of hours they have completed. All service hours must be verifiable. The community service hours will need an event supervisor name and phone number for verification purposes.
To participate in this program, membership in Music Boosters is mandatory. To join, contact your Music Booster President.
