Looking for a way to fill those long summer hours, now that your vacations and camps are cancelled? Panther Music Mentors is piloting a free remote music tutoring program!
Volunteer Pen High musicians will give 1-on-1 lessons to beginner musicians who are students of PVPUSD via Zoom. Lessons will be 30-60 minutes, once a week, and scheduled based upon availability of the tutor and student. We hope to start the program in late June and run ALL SUMMER, as tutor availability permits.
Because of the private lesson format, we anticipate VERY limited spots. Priority will be given to returning students and rising 5th-7th graders, as well as those who sign up early!
Requirements: Zoom account, fast internet, a device with microphone and speaker. ipads work well. Students provide their own instrument! Music will be shared by email in advance, for printing at home. A music stand is helpful.
Please be aware that not every learner thrives with this virtual format. Some may have difficulty maintaining attention. The tutor cannot assist with the instrument in a hands-on way, so students need to have basic knowledge on how to assemble, tune, and handle their instruments. We require students be at least 9 years old on June 18, 2020 so that most will be mature enough to benefit from this program.
Currently we have tutors for the following instruments: piano, trumpet, sax, percussion, bass, tuba, trombone (moderate availability) clarinet, guitar, violin, viola, euphonium (low availability) flute (uncertain)
